Image Edition was developed in the mid 1990's and is available in a standalone version, a network version with the btrieve database built into the product, and a network version using the free version of MySql. There is also a version designed specifically for the insurance industry. - Personal Professional Image Edition - This is a standalone version intended for use on a single workstation. It does not supprt the LAN environment but may be upgraded to the LAN version at any time.
- Professional Image Edition - Version 3.0. This version is a network version and is sold with the base network license which includes one user plus additional concurrent users. Btrieve is included in this version.
- Professional Image Edition - Version 4.0. This version consists of two parts, a client-side and a MSDE or SQL Server server side. It builds on the many valuable features of Version 3.0 and includes new features such as:
- Improved Security
- More reliable database engine
- Upgrade path from earlier 3.0 databases
- Ability to e-mail multiple documents as a single attachment
- Easy to back-up
- Enhanced verify and rebuild
Version 4.0 is also sold as a base network license with one concurrent user plus additional concurrent users. - ImageMail - This product allows the user to "wrap" a tiff file inside an Image Edition mini-viewer. The user can then send the file across the LAN, WAN, or Internet. The person receiving the file does not need Image Edition or any other software to view the file. This is especially useful to those receiving documents with limited document viewing capabilities.
- Image CD/DVD - This is a CD/DVD version of Image Edition designed to run independently of the master Image Edition office install. The user can specify data which needs to be included from the master database and record a CD/DVD which may be independently viewed without requiring access to the main installation. this is very useful for remote employees who may not have access to the main database or for those who only need a subset of the information recorded in the main database.
